Windsurfing: Hayling Island Wind Direction: SSW Wind Stength: F3-5 Surf / Sea State: Small Waves and Chop Air Temperature: 10 Sea Temperature: 9 Weather: Bright and Sunny with a few clouds Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Made an early start today - alarm went off at 5.45am, made a flask of tea,
picked up my sarnies and headed out the door. Picked up Ed on the way and
got to Hayling for about 8am. At that time it was blowing nicely, and it
seemed like 5.7s would be order of the day. By the time I got on the water,
the wind was very up and down, dwindling to almost nothing at times, but
enough to get planing during gusts.
I had a really mixed session, probably spending more time in the water than
on the board on the whole. Had a couple of fun blasts in the straps, with
some unintentional (and out of control) chop hops early on in the morning
before the wind decided to disappear, but I was struggling to get the board
to bear away a lot today and got very frustrated with myself. Still, had
plenty of practice at sailing off the plane in very little wind!!
Ed was doing some nice waveriding of the smallish swell that was rolling
into the beach. Looked like a lot of fun....
Great to see the Carve Club crowd - Sean, Nick, Graeme et al.! I think
maybe it's time the word "Carve" was dropped from the title of the club
though!
All in all, quite a frustrating session considering how much I'd been
looking forward to this weekend. Shame... still there's always next week.
Evening sessions too, soon! Roll on summer!
